We will be celebrating Grandparent's Day from September 14-18, 2009. In honor all our Grandparents, we are asking students' Grandparents to eat with them here at school. Lunch is served at 12:25pm on September 16th, but please call the school by September 4th to confirm attendance. An Adult lunch is $2.25. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

I just added Zoopz.com to the Web Links page. The tag line of their site is 'Games that make you think', and they are not wrong. The inch worm game in particular will get your brain working quicker than you realize. Zoopz is not educational in the curriculum sense, but it encourages higher level thinking skills and problem solving strategies.

Also added is ZuiTube. A filtered kid friendly version of YouTube. ZuiTube has over 60,000 parent and teacher approved videos.

Order forms for the first Scholastic book order of this year will shortly be coming home. This year, you will be able to order online at the Scholastic website if you want. Money orders will still be taken in school, but for every online order we receive, the class will get a free book choice. Full instructions are on this letter. A link to the Scholastic site is under the 'quick links' on this page.

A big thank you to the North-Linn PTO for serving ice cream at the open night last night! It was very much appreciated by all. At Walker alone, we went through nine and a half gallons!

Welcome back! 08/19/2009

The summer is finally over, and we are all back to school again! So I'd like to formally welcome all my new students and parents as we begin another brand new school year. I am looking forward to meeting all my new students.

This year I have decided to write a class blog to communicate with students and parents about all that is going on in class, celebrate our achievements, and provide a resource of educational web links. The 'About' page will give more detailed information on all of these topics.

Hopefully the website will grow in size over time, but for now I am happy to start small and build on what I have. Feedback of any kind is always welcome!
