Mr. Wylie's Class Website

Who are you?

My name is Jonathan Wylie and I am the 4th Grade teacher at Walker Elementary. This is my fourth year teaching at North-Linn, and my ninth year as a teacher. I graduated with a BA (Hons) History and then went on to complete postgraduate teacher training.

Originally from Scotland, I taught in the United Kingdom for five years before I immigrated to America. I live locally with my wife Donel, and daughter Niamh (pronounced 'neev'). I love to spend time with my family. I am a keen photographer, internet surfer, and frustrated soccer fan. I am also 'trying' to teach myself guitar.

What is mrwylie.com?

This website, mrwylie.com, is a new venture for me. I have run school websites before, but nothing as individual and dedicated as this one. The aim of this website is to provide direct and up to date communication to parents, celebrate student achievements, and provide fun, educational opportunities to enhance student learning through the internet.

The homepage will be a running blog of information, updates and new ideas. I will post as and when I have something new to tell you, but it will not replace letters that are sent home from school. The rest of the site will likely evolve and grow over time, so bookmark me and check back often!

What about student privacy?

Using technology in education is a strong interest of mine, and one that is becoming increasingly prevalent in our world today. It offers exciting new opportunities that we may never once have imagined. However, I am mindful that some parents may have concerns over privacy or security, and rightly so. No student names, assignments, photos or other details will appear on this website without express permission from parents, and can be removed at any time. A copy of the classroom internet permission form can be found if you click here.

Please feel free to email me, or call the school if you have any further questions, comments or suggestions.
